Biography —
Dr. Caminero-Santangelo joined KU's Department of English in 1997. Born to Cuban immigrant parents in Canada, her academic and research interests focus on 20th and 21st century literary studies of the conjunction between literature, group identity, and activism — the ability to promote social change. She explores how these issues play themselves out in U.S. Latino/a literature.
In addition to her faculty position at KU, she has served as Chair of the English Department and Director of the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies. She has also served as Editor-in-Chief of "Latino Studies" journal.
