Biography

Dr. Wu joined KU's Department of Physics & Astronomy in 1993, where her research focus is on growth, characterization and applications of thin films and nanostructures of semiconductors, superconductor, ferroelectric and magnetic materials, etc. Thin films and nanostructures are the basis for modern microelectronics and other applications. 

Dr. Wu has received significant grant funding from leading federal and industry organizations, including the National Science Foundation, Honeywell, the U.S. Army, NASA EPSCoR, U.S. Air Force, and the U.S. Department of Energy. She is the inventor or co-inventor on 18 patents. 

She received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the International Conference on Novel Materials and Synthesis, and KU's Higuchi Olin Petefish Award for basic science. She was recognized in the 2014-2015 cohort of KU Women of Distinction, and was a Kemper Fellow in 2006. Dr. Wu is a member of the American Physics Society (APS) and American Ceramic Society, and has served as a board member for the Applied Superconductivity Conference.
