Biography —
Dr. Wolf-Wendel joined KU's School of Education in 1995, where in addition to her faculty position she also serves as Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies. Her academic areas include equity issues in higher education, work/family balance and gender and racial/ethnic diversity issues in higher education. Her research focuses on faculty issues, including the academic labor market, and the needs of international faculty and faculty from historically underrepresented groups.
Dr. Wolf-Wendel is the editor of the "New Directions in Higher Education Series" and serves on several editorial boards. In 2025, she was named an inaugural Fellow of the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE). She previously served as president of the ASHE, and was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the organization in 2017. Dr. Wolf-Wendel is active in the American Educational Research Association (AERA), where she has served as a member of the AERA Ethics Committee.
At KU, she has received the Ned Fleming Trust Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Gene A. Budig Writing Professorship, the Gene A. Budig Teaching Professorship and the W.T. Kemper Fellowship for Recognition in Teaching and Advising Excellence. She also was recognized with the School of Education Faculty Research Achievement Award.
