Biography —
Dr. Warrior joined KU in 2016 and has a dual appointment in the Department of English and Department of American Studies. He previously held faculty positions at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the University of Oklahoma and Stanford University. He is a member of the Osage Nation and belongs to the Grayhorse District. His academic and research areas of interest include Indigenous studies, Native American literary studies and Indigenous social movements.
His books include "Like a Hurricane: The Indian Movement from Alcatraz to Wounded Knee," co-written with Paul Chaat Smith; "Tribal Secrets: Recovering American Indian Intellectual Traditions;" "Reasoning Together: The Native Critics Collective;" and "The World of Indigenous North America."
Dr. Warrior is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and has served as president of the American Studies Association and founding president of the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association.
