Biography —
Dr. Zhao joined KU's School of Education in 2016 from the University of Oregon, where he served as Presidential Chair and Director of the Institute for Global and Online Education in the College of Education.
His academic and research interests focus on technology and globalization as they relate to education. His research has been funded by the U.S. Department of Education, the National Science Foundation, and other national and international organizations. In addition to leading large research projects and research institutions, he has worked with teachers, schools, government entities and other partners to design curricula and develop software systems to improve learning in the U.S. and internationally. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Education and a fellow of the International Academy of Education.
Dr. Zhao is a member of the National Academy of Education. He received an Early Career Award from the American Educational Research Association (AERA), the Outstanding Public Educator Award from Horace Mann League of USA, and the Distinguished Achievement Award in Professional Development from the Association of Education Publishers.
