Biography —
Dr. Cai joined KU's Department of Economics in 2013 from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, and previously held an assistant professor position at Missouri State University. He has served as a visiting professor at a number of institutions in China, as well as universities in Germany and France.
His interests include both theoretical and applied econometrics, and his research focuses on building a methodological bridge connecting real data and economic and financial theories to help people understand the real world. He developed new econometric techniques to analyze unknown relationships, as well as methods to better understand how variables influence economic factors such as housing prices, stock returns, foreign direct investment, exchange rates, biochemical oxygen demand, advertising, and climate change.
Dr. Cai is a fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA) and the Journal of Econometrics, and a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the American Economic Association (AEA), the American Statistical Association (ASA), and other industry groups.
